Imagine a city where street art cartoon characters come alive. You simply put on your magic glasses and you can see Reality 2.0, an extended version. Put on your VR glasses and you don’t even have to imagine anything anymore, the manga girl will crawl into your lap and your digital dog will poop flowers for you. Pick them to get a few extra lives. Digital technology has allowed us to create parallel universes that we can interact with daily, giving us those extra lives. The “Murmur Wall” in San Francisco is a project that is intended to improve life in the city. It harvests data from local social media and search engine activity and transforms it into text and colorful shapes. It is a poetic rendition of people’s online lives, a way of making the city more playful. In this respect, it is not far from graffiti, that – if it is true art – is like a mirror that allows you to see yourself anywhere from an unexpected angle. [András Gál] |
